Ellie's ClassDojo Awards

Ellie just keeps on emailing me her Blockbuster Homework and I just keep on adding points to her rewards monster.  Well done Ellie - keep it up - you are working hard to achieve such a good spread of points!

Sumdog team - some of the girls

Great outfits girls!  Some expensive items there.  You're working hard!

100+ on Sumdog this week

At 5pm on Sunday night, we have a good list of children who have completed an item on their Blockbuster homework (and hopefully enjoyed themselves at the same time :-) ) Some people were in the high 90s for questions answered - still have time!

The Star Centre Sizzled!

We had a fabulous time at the Star Centre.  Enjoy snippets from our day...

Come on Harry, we've got work to do!

Well done Joshua - you beat us to it...

THIS time :-)

Sumdog 100

Wow! This is the biggest proportion of the class so far that achieved 100 or more questions answered in one week.  Some people were in the 90s... so close.  Great work!

Mr Langley, our maths might help you!

Dear Mr Langley,

We've been working on a problem that Mrs Cole set us linked to this geocache which we believe you haven't yet found. We've been investigating the maths involved and have written some messages for you following your visit to Portugal to drop our Travel Bug using the same idea as this cache.

Here they are. If you need any clues, we've left you some links to tips at the bottom :-)

Sneak preview

We're in the middle of creating documentaries interrupted by newsflashes.  We're sharing one newsflash for the moment as a sneak preview...  What do you think?

Tuesday 15 November 2011

Guess!

Have a guess how many questions Joshua has answered since we started out on Sumdog.

Is that a direct challenge Harry?

Will Harry get his fins before Mrs Cole?

She probably needs to work a bit harder!

Mangahigh medal winners

Just looked at how you're doing here and it's a good line up of medals Year 5.  Take a look:

This must be our best week yet on Sumdog

It's only Tuesday and take a look at those of us who have already or are well on the way to answering 100 questions this week.  Keep it up - we're cracking a pace with our learning both in school and at home!

Y5 use and apply multiplication skills

Just look at how well our teams have worked over the last couple of weeks to be able to answer these...

Great work team!

Sumdog TODAY

Wow!  Just look at how many children have already achieved or are well on their way to answering their 100 questions in a week on Sumdog.  ...And they've only just started today.

Well done!

Superb problem solving

This is the amazing using and applying workings from the subtraction that Y5 did a few weeks ago.

There's also a couple of photos from today's problem solving on multiplication...

Shhhhhh... We're having FUN!

Trundling along!

"While we were walking around the playground with the trundle wheel, we felt freezing but we finally came to a conclusion!" Emma and Lewis exclaimed to Joshua.

Multiplying problems

"When I tried that the first time, I 'epicly' failed but eventually I succeeded," Max replied in a shocked way.

Who are we?

On Sumdog, you have to work hard to be able to buy new outfits.

Here's me and some of my team! You can see I haven't worked hard enough to earn my fins yet but I will eventually.

Max: entertaining style

I should really be marking but I'm taking a moment again to show off an extract of Max's work. (I'm thoroughly enjoying all your work Year 5.) Take a look at this...

On the stormy and windy day that you heard about at the beginning of the story, Ruben was standing in the dead abandoned field eating a banana when, out of nowhere, came two gargoyles flying out at him! "They look like marble so they must be statues!" Ruben exclaimed. What is going on? Ruben didn't have time to think about that. He just managed to duck in time.

Sammy: magnificent mood factors!

Check out some of Sammy's phrases to build up suspense. This is just what we were looking for!

It was all dark inside the house.

The bats kept coming through the window.

The trees kept scraping across the house.

Caitlin M: delightful phrases

I'm currently enjoying marking Year 5's Dahl-style story writing and am just pausing to share a couple of snippets from Caitlin's work...

Now, Ruben was in a tough position.

After a short time of thinking...

As he entered the mysterious house, he didn't notice the statue by the tree was watching his every move.

And finally, my favourite:

Was this the end for little Ruben?

Mangahigh Medals

Well done to these people...

I love your resilience to keep trying until you achieved your goals!

Algebra request

Another great comment today from Joshua in Y5, "Please could you set up some algebra for me to do on Sumdog?"

We certainly can Joshua... Keep looking at your account!

Having fun learning about Panto

We had an hilarious afternoon yesterday learning about what goes on behind the scenes at a pantomime.

The grand finale

Enthusiastic learners sparking each other

I loved this comment from Harry in Y5 as he left school today, "Make sure you go on Sumdog as soon as you get home!"
