Enjoy our documentaries
Year 5 has put a tremendous amount of hard work into producing these presentations.
Although they are not long videos, much research went on about choosing which country to use and finding facts about them. Children then spent time writing their scripts for both the documentary and a newsflash. Meanwhile, designs and 3D models were created in plasticine for the escaping giants. You wouldn't believe how long it then takes to use professional stop frame animation software to produce animated models.
Not only that but we also worked successfully in teams building our skills at talking and negotiating with each other.
We hope you enjoy our hard work.!

Leah's superb winter poems
Winter poem!
In winter time the trees are bare
Snow may fall and all will stare
The animals hide, asleep they'll stay
When Spring appears they go on their way
In Winter time children play
wrapped up warm, they stay all day
Christmas comes and all will smile
Carols sung and presents piled.
Winter poem!
In winter time trees are bare
Children play without a care
The air gets chilly and the floor gets slippy
They slip and slide and act really silly
People start putting there christmas decorations up
They all start getting excited that it is nearly christmas
They all wait for santa to come and drop there presents in at there home

Mr Langley, our maths might help you!
Dear Mr Langley,
We've been working on a problem that Mrs Cole set us linked to this geocache which we believe you haven't yet found. We've been investigating the maths involved and have written some messages for you following your visit to Portugal to drop our Travel Bug using the same idea as this cache.
Here they are. If you need any clues, we've left you some links to tips at the bottom :-)

Have a guess how many questions Joshua has answered since we started out on Sumdog.
This must be our best week yet on Sumdog
It's only Tuesday and take a look at those of us who have already or are well on the way to answering 100 questions this week. Keep it up - we're cracking a pace with our learning both in school and at home!

Well done!

Superb problem solving
This is the amazing using and applying workings from the subtraction that Y5 did a few weeks ago.
There's also a couple of photos from today's problem solving on multiplication...
Shhhhhh... We're having FUN!

Trundling along!
"While we were walking around the playground with the trundle wheel, we felt freezing but we finally came to a conclusion!" Emma and Lewis exclaimed to Joshua.
Multiplying problems
"When I tried that the first time, I 'epicly' failed but eventually I succeeded," Max replied in a shocked way.

Who are we?
On Sumdog, you have to work hard to be able to buy new outfits.
Here's me and some of my team! You can see I haven't worked hard enough to earn my fins yet but I will eventually.

Max: entertaining style
I should really be marking but I'm taking a moment again to show off an extract of Max's work. (I'm thoroughly enjoying all your work Year 5.) Take a look at this...
On the stormy and windy day that you heard about at the beginning of the story, Ruben was standing in the dead abandoned field eating a banana when, out of nowhere, came two gargoyles flying out at him! "They look like marble so they must be statues!" Ruben exclaimed. What is going on? Ruben didn't have time to think about that. He just managed to duck in time.

Sammy: magnificent mood factors!
Check out some of Sammy's phrases to build up suspense. This is just what we were looking for!
It was all dark inside the house.
The bats kept coming through the window.
The trees kept scraping across the house.

Caitlin M: delightful phrases
I'm currently enjoying marking Year 5's Dahl-style story writing and am just pausing to share a couple of snippets from Caitlin's work...
Now, Ruben was in a tough position.
After a short time of thinking...
As he entered the mysterious house, he didn't notice the statue by the tree was watching his every move.
And finally, my favourite:
Was this the end for little Ruben?

Well done - keep it up.
By the way - there's a new range of sports clothes to buy with the points you earn on Sumdog. Click this link to have a look.
